एक नगर में देवशक्ति नाम का राजा रहता था । उसके पुत्र के पेट में किसी तरह सांप चला गया । सांप राजा के पुत्र के पेट में ही अपना बिल बनाकर रहने लगा । उसके कारण उसका शरीर दिन प्रतिदिन कमजोर होता जा रहा था । बहुत उपचार करने के बाद भी उसका स्वस्थ नहीं सुधर रहा था । यह देख राजपुत्र अपना राज्य छोड़ कर किसी दूसरे राज्य में चला गया और वहां के एक मंदिर में भिखारी की तरह रहने लगा । उस राज्य के राजा की दो पुत्रियां थी । वे दोनों जब भी अपने पिता को प्रणाम करती तो प्रणाम कहते हुए पहली पुत्री कहती है महाराज ! आपकी जय हो ।
